Rajasthan - Land of Maharajas

Located in the north-west of India, Rajasthan is a ride on the sands of time. From majestic forts & beautiful palaces to finely carved temples, it is India’s richest crop of architectural monuments. Rajasthan is a complete package of royalty, extravagant palaces, shopping, adventure and wildlife encounters, this is India at its vibrant best.

The capital city of Jaipur (also known as ‘Pink City’) is famous for its Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Amer Fort and its colourful bazaars. Jodhpur - the ‘Blue City’ is centered on an old walled town built in shades of blue. It is famous for majestic Mehrangarh Fort and elegant Umaid Bhawan Palace. The magical desert city of Jaisalmer, also known as the ‘Golden City’, is built from local sandstone and is located in the heart of Thar Desert. Jaisalmer is known for its Sonar Quila (Golden Fort), many beautiful Havelis, intricately carved temples, colourful bazaars and Camel Safari in the Thar Desert. The ‘city of lakes’ Udaipur is full of waterside palaces and restaurants that are framed by a distant vista of sawtooth hills.

The six hill-forts of Rajasthan - Chittor Fort, Kumbhalgarh Fort, Ranthambore Fort, Gagron Fort, Amer Fort, and Jaisalmer Fort clustered together as a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. These forts are magnificent specimens of military strategy, splendid beauty and historical value. Rajasthan also has few wildlife sanctuaries. Of these, the tiger sanctuary at Ranthambore and Bharatpur bird sanctuary are most popular. Tigers, leopards, striped hyenas, sambar deer, jackals, black bucks, chinkara are a common sight in the national parks.
