This comprehensive tour of Srilanka takes you to Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Tangalle, Galle, and Colombo. You will be able to see key sites and explore some of the hidden areas of the modern-day Srilanka.

This tour of Srilanka begins from the busy and vibrant city of Colombo. It is the largest city and former administer capital of Srilanka. Then proceed to former capital –Kandy via visiting the elephant orphanage named Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, home to almost hundreds of baby and old orphaned elephants. One can feed the baby elephant and watched them play. City of Kandy is known for the most religious site in Buddhism named The Temple of the Tooth Relic.

From Kandy, take a scenic train journey up into the hill country Nuwara Eliya also known as “little England”. Here explore the wonderful tea estates and taste some of the finest teas in the world.

From the British hill station descend to the south coast to relax on an unspoiled beach in Tangalle. Stay in a quiet beach resort in picturesque palm grove location, wake up to views of the Indian ocean, quiet fringed sands, and tropical lagoons, which is a perfect place for relaxation.

This sojourn than proceed to the colonial town Galle having Dutch and Portuguese influence. Walk in the narrow streets of Dutch fort filled with exclusive artistic shops and galleries, cafes and restaurants. After sight-seeing, relax on the bay beach of Unawatuna for a dose of sunshine, sea and sand. The tour will end in most busy and energetic city - Colombo. Life in Colombo is full of contrasts – from huge impressive colonial-styled buildings and big parks and lakes, massive temples to busy and chaotic areas with narrow streets packed with people shopping in vibrant markets.

    Colombo – Kandy– Nuwara Eliya –Tangalle - Galle – Colombo

    Day 1 Arrive Colombo

    Upon arrival at the Bandaranayake International Airport (Colombo Airport), you will be received by your chauffeur and transferred to the hotel. The day begins with a visit to one of the most important places of learning and spirituality - The Gangaramaya Temple. Afterwards, visit the Seema Malaka Temple, a tiny temple that is built on a lake and can only be reached by a small bridge. Rest of the day is at your own pace. Overnight will be at Colombo.

    Day 2 Colombo to Kandy By road 135 / 4hrs

    After breakfast, drive to Kandy en route visiting Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. It is a home for nearly 84 young and old elephants. Later, reach Kandy in the evening and check in to the hotel. Rest of the evening is at leisure. You could either rest at your lovely hotel or explore the city with your chauffeur, e.g. walking around Kandy Lake in city center or go some shopping in the local markets. Overnight will be at Kandy.

    Day 3 In Kandy

    After breakfast, take an interesting visit to Royal Botanical Garden of Peradeniya which boasts 300+ varieties of orchids, spices, medicinal plants and palm trees. Thereafter, witness a vivid and traditional Rangahala Cultural Dance (Kandyan Dance) before walking to the nearby Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic - Sri Lanka's most sacred Buddhist shrine. Overnight will be at Kandy.

    Day 4 Kandy to Nuwara Eliya By train 80kms / 5hrs

    After breakfast, take a morning train(subject to availability) to Tea country – Nuwara Eliya which is one of the most scenic train journeys in the world. This leisurely train ride takes about approx five hours. Upon your arrival at Nanu Oya Railway Station, your chauffeur guide will pick you up and escort you to the hotel. Rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight will be at Nuwara Eliya.

    Day 5 In Nuwara Eliya

    Start your day early as you drive to Horton Plains for a walk through the National park. It takes about 3-4 hours of easy trek and you will see sambar deer, waterfall, diverse flora & fauna and the stunning views over World's End. In the afternoon, pay a visit to a tea plantation and a tea factory, where the world's best Ceylon Tea is produced. After learning about the process of manufacturing tea, get hands-on experience of tea picking and don't forget to sip a cup of pure Ceylon tea in the factory. Overnight will be at Nuwara Eliya.

    Day 6 Nuwara Eliya to Tangalle By road 195 kms / 5hrs

    Enjoy leisurely breakfast at the hotel. Afterwards, drive along the scenic south coast of Sri Lanka, to Tangalle. Here you will have the opportunity to sit back and relax on this wonderful coastline. Overnight will be at Tangalle.

    Day 7 In Tangalle

    Enjoy leisurely breakfast at the hotel. The day is at leisure to enjoy and relax near the beach. You could also opt to visit the Mulkirigala Rock Monastery and enjoy the fantastic view and amazing frescoes. Overnight will be at Tangalle.

    Day 8 Tangalle to Galle By road 80 kms / 2hrs

    After breakfast drive to south along the coastline to Galle- a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Reach Galle and your hotel will be located within the fort walls. Wrap up the day by paying the Yatagala and Rhumasala temples a visit. The evening is at leisure as you might like to explore the boutiques and restaurants in the fort area. Overnight will be at Galle.

    Day 9 In Galle / Unawatuna

    After breakfast, you can visit the Galle fort which is Srilanka’s best preserved colonial townscape. Here, streets are lined with Dutch period villas and old churches. Originally built in 1588 by the Portuguese, it was extensively fortified by the Dutch in the seventeenth century. A few must visit places include the serene Dutch Church – which oozes history from its simple white stone exterior, surrounded by granite tombstones of former Dutch settlers – the harbor, the Dutch Cultural Museum and the National Maritime Museum. It is a delightful place to wander and explore. You also have an option to stay at a beach hotel in Unawatuna which is just 5kms from Galle. Overnight will be at Galle / Unawatuna.

    Day 10 Unawatuna / Galle

    Enjoy leisurely breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to hotel in Unawatuna to enjoy and relax near the bay beach. Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight will be at Unawatuna.

    Day 11 Unawatuna to Colombo By road 130kms / 4hrs

    After breakfast travel to Colombo en route visiting Turtle Hatchery in Bentota. Upon arrival in Colombo by the evening, you will be transferred to the hotel. The evening is free at your own pace. Overnight will be at Colombo.

    Day 12 Colombo Departure

    After breakfast, visit Colombo by driving through the commercial and city center known as the Fort. Visit Pettah market and the National Museum. You could also visit a Buddhist Temple and a Hindu Kovil to experience the diversity of religion. If time permits, you may also go some shopping. Later, as per your flight timings, you will be transferred to the airport to take a flight back home with sweet memories of the tour. TOUR ENDS !
